Kids in Zachary got a big surprise today. The New Orleans Hornet's Mascot, Hugo the Hornet, brought a bus full of books to the Zachary Methodist Church.

The event, sponsored by Best Western and the Hornets was a fun way to get kids excited about reading and going back to school. Hugo had help from other larger than life creatures, cheerleaders and local businesses who donated food, school supplies and activities.

Every child at the event today took home a new book. So far, the program has given away over 100,000 books across the state.
