Attorney and Law Professor Christopher Tyson speaks from his heart when he speaks about the youth in Baton Rouge.  He says their potential is boundless and he hopes he can help them realize that.  He has opened his heart to several young people in Baton Rouge.  Today he opened his home to young people from the Capital City for a barbecue sponsored by the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC).

Daniel Kahn is the founder of BRYC.  The organization offers one on one mentorship and guidance for teens.  The organization's generosity is boundless, stretching from paid ACT prep courses, to help with the college application process.  In BRYC's first year they helped about 15 students.

BRYC graduate Kristian Shaffer says the program helped him become more optimistic.  He'll be a freshman at Loyola University this Fall.  He says he never thought of college as an option before joining BRYC.

BRYC graduate Garys Slack will be a freshman at Dillard University this Fall.  He says BRYC opened his eyes to the beauty of a world outside Baton Rouge.

Now BRYC is preparing for its second year, and its second batch of students.  They hope to have more than double the amount of mentees this year.

BRYC board member Christopher Tyson hopes the program inspires others in the Capital City to get involved with the youth in the area.
