BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA)--It's a wish come true for one young Louisiana native. A chronically sick boy took to the skies today for the trip of a lifetime.
Fourteen-year-old Blaise Frey didn't have to wonder what time his plane was arriving into the Baton Rouge airport this morning because he was the person waving it in.
"I went in the cockpit too. It was fun," Blaise said about his morning with the flight crew.
Blaise got the star treatment from airline employees, starting with a Saints-themed party and ending with a grand tour of the airplane he took to Disney World.
"He's excited. I'm excited for him," said mother, Germaine Frey. "When we drove up, he said 'My hearts beating so fast just seeing the airplanes.'"
It's all part of the WishFlight. Blaise is one of 43 children chosen by the Make a Wish Foundation to take a week long trip to Disney World with his family.
Blaise suffers from a rare disorder. He gets a lot of blood clots, some that affect his kidneys and lungs, but his parents say he's tough.
They were touched by their send-off this morning. Blaise couldn't believe his luck when he found out he'd be going on the trip. His welcome this morning was much more than he expected.
"It's just awesome," he said. "There are no words to put it in. It's awesome."
