St. James Parish to begin offering sandbags
ST. JAMES PARISH, LA — St. James Parish has been participating in conference calls and meetings with Governor’s Office of Homeland Security (GOHSEP) and the National Weather Service, as well as with local parish and town officials. The following is a list of updated information in reference to preparation for Isaac:
‐St. James Parish is under a Declared State of Emergency.
‐All St. James Parish schools are open and operating normally on Monday, August 27, 2012.
‐If necessary, the parish will open and operate a local shelter for residents in need. Further
communications listing locations and times will be disseminated as needed.
‐Sand and sand bags will be available for residents to fill at the following locations beginning on Monday, August 27, 2012 at noon:
- Vacherie Elementary under the pavilion
- District 5 Recreation Park
- Gramercy water plant
- East bank water plant
- Grand Point Fire Station
- Lutcher maintenance barn
