Pipes could freeze in tonight's cold temperatures, which could mean lots of water damage for your home.

To make sure your pipes don't freeze, it is recommended that you insulate them.

"Prepare early because these when pipes bust, they are going to be a big problem,” stated Howard Ward with the Baker Fire Department. “We want to urge people to take precautions tonight to make sure that if there's even a light freeze that they don't have any problems."

You can also wrap pipes with heat tape to keep them warm. Also, make sure to seal leaks that allow cool air near your pipes.

It is not recommended that you try to heat your pipes with an open flame. If your pipes do freeze, you can try and thaw them out by using a hair dryer.

If they end up bursting, make sure to turn off the main water valve, but leave the faucets turned on.
