GONZALES, LA (NBC33) — Hurricane season means it's time to get prepared before it's too late, but sometimes getting ready gets pushed off. So, Saturday at the Gonzales Home Depot hundreds of people were given all the essentials they need, all under one roof.
"At my school I know a few techniques about it,” said Xander Jackson.
Xander Jackons told NBC33 he's ready for a hurricane, if it hits.
“That you have to put your hands on your head lean on your knees like your praying on the floor,” said Jackson.
Xander's mom, Leslie learned a little bit more about how to prepare just in time for hurricane season.
“We’re getting prepared today, starting to get prepared today,” noted Leslie Jackson. “I figured it would be fun for the kids and we could come out and get some good information and hopefully some supplies.”
Home Depot partnered up with numerous vendors to help our community get supplies and info in a one stop shop and Leslie says not only is this great to prepare, it shows that everyone cares.
“It's really good to see all of the workers and public safety people out its just good,” said Jackson. “I think it’s good for the community.”
State Police have not only been in hurricanes, they work in them, so they say it’s good to be prepared.
“Keep up with the news and make plans about having water. 3 days food supplies,” said Louisiana State Police Officer, Kirk Martin.
And now Leslie and Xander are heading home, with supplies in hand.
“It's always good you need to have as much information as possible so you can be prepared just incase something would happen.”
