Dallas begins cleaning up from twisters that barreled through city

DALLAS, TX (NBC) — It played out on live television in the middle of the afternoon. Powerful twisters barreling through the Dallas, Fort Worth area, picking up and tossing 18 wheelers hundreds of feet in the air.
Multiple twisters were reported as they kicked up debris during its assault across the Dallas region.
When it was over a path of destruction was left in its wake as residents ventured out to survey the damage.
Tractor trailers now litter the complex where they were tossed.
The surprise storm illustrating how quickly a tornado can strike and hitting on a day when NOAA officials issued warnings for people who live in tornado prone areas to be prepared this season.
"From getting that warning to taking action, Kathryn Sullivan, NOAA Chief Scientist, explained. “That as often as not is the window when lives are saved or lost.”
The difference between live and death as forecasters predict an active spring as we head into the heart of tornado season.
