STORMTRACKER33 — Tropical Storm Don is forecast to make landfall on the Texas coast late Friday into early Saturday. The storm will certainly provide much needed rainfall to the drought stricken area, and also provide some temporary relief from the oppressive heat. The problem is, the area where Don is forecast to make landfall is in an exceptional drought, so the storm will only put a small dent in the rainfall deficit. Cotton farmers in Texas say that Don is coming at an inopportune time, because two weeks remain in their harvest. The system should dump at least one or two inches of rainfall at landfall, with the potential to drop up to 6 inches depending on the size and speed of the storm.
