29 Parishes issued burn ban
Louisiana (NBC33) — The State Fire Marshal issued a cease and desist order for private burning due to the extremely dry weather conditions in certain Parishes within the state. The order is effective as of 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
The order has been issued for the following Parishes: Allen, Acadia, Avoyelles, Beaurgard, Bieneville, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Cameron, Catahoula, Clairborne, Desoto, Evangeline, Jackson, Jefferson Davis, LaSalle, Lincoln, Natchitoches, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, St. Landry, Union, Vermillion, Vernon, Webster and Winn.
Private burning is still allowed if permission has been given by the local fire department. Those who violate the order could face civil penalties.
