At least six people are dead after a line of powerful storms swept across the Southeast Wednesday evening. Daylight revealed how devastating the storms were.

Cold Temperatures Next Week

The remainder of this weekend will be very warm and nice.  Slightly cooler at night with lows in the upper 50's.  Afternoon high temperatures will range from 85-88 degrees each day till Monday.

Tropical area to watch

An elongated area of low pressure near Cuba and the southern Bahamas is producing showers and storms. Reports show the low pressure is better organized and has become better defined.

Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge to close temporarily for bridge construction

Nearing the end of Hurricane Season 2011

Category 3 Hurricane Ophelia

Hurricane Ophelia, fourth Hurricane for the 2011 season, has strengthened and maximum sustained winds are near 120mph.  Ophelia is moving due North at 17mph.

29,000 + acres now open for outdoor activities

LDWF Press Release Governor Bobby Jindal announced the availability of 29,630 new acres to the Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area (WMA) for hunting and other outdoor activities.

Hurricane Ophelia

Ophelia becomes the fourth hurricane of the season.  Maximum sustained winds are near 75mph and the Ophelia is moving NNW  at 9 mph. Hurricane Warnings are now in place for Bermuda as the hurricane approaches.
