Elyssa Lassiter MMJ
Elyssa is a multimedia journalist for NBC33. She made her way to Baton Rouge after crisscrossing several southern states.
Elyssa began her journey locally at Southern University. During her time as a student, Elyssa interned at HLN in Atlanta, where she helped cover stories from the emergence of WikiLeaks to the Chilean miners’ narrow escape. She wrapped up her college career at the top of her program with a degree in both Spanish and Mass Communication.
After receiving a master's degree in Applied Communication from Mississippi College, Elyssa took a job as an on-air announcer and program director for three radio stations in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. During her stay, Elyssa received national attention for her coverage of an EF-4 tornado that devastated the area.
When she’s not covering South Louisiana news, Elyssa is most likely teaching Zumba fitness, working with youth groups or playing with her two German Shepherd Akitas.
