Supreme Court upholds Angola murder mistrial

The murder trial of Angola inmate Jeffrey Cameron Clark is over today. This morning, the Louisiana Supreme Court upheld Judge Dennis Waldron's mistrial ruling from Thursday.

Cameron and four other inmate are charged with First-Degree mudrder in the 1999 slaying of prison security captain, David Knapps.

The ruling comes after the judge found a problem with the prosecutor, Tommy Block's, in-court remark that Cameron "wanted another life sentence."

On Friday, a panel of judges at the First Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Judge Waldron's mistrial ruling. The State Supreme Court reversed that decision.

Block is frustrated with the decision to end the trial. "We understand, but respectfully disagree with that ruling and we are prepared to go forward and try this case as soon as possible," Block said.

Now, the process of starting a new trial will  begin. Clark will have to go before an entirely new jury.
