Police found 40 pounds of marijuana in a man's truck after a traffic stop on I-12 on Saturday, April 28.

Around 10:00 a.m., a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's deputy saw a red 1999 Ford F250, traveling east bound on I-12, swerving on and off of the shoulder on the roadway and stopped the driver.

The driver, Joseph Fairweather, 27, of Hudson, Flordia, was extremely nervous and profusely sweating.

The officer soon learned the truck did not belong to Fairweather, and he was driving from Texas back to Florida.

He gave deputies permission to search the vehicle, where they found 40 pounds (eight 5-pound packages) of marijuana located in a container in the bed of the truck. He admitted he was being paid $5,000 to transports the drugs.

Fairweather was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana and cited for Improper Lane Usage.
