From man to monster
BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) -- By day, they're just regular people. By night, they make a living off of giving people the heebie jeebies. That's just what this scary clown loves about his job.
"I look forward to this every single year," says Seth Feilding.
Feilding loves giving people a fright, so it only seems natural that he would be a veteran cast member at The 13th Gate. "This is going to sound bad, but its a special kind of thrill to make grown men cry."
This year, Fielding has a pretty cool gig in the haunted house. He makes his home in the sewers. "I'm now the drunk, lecherous, canabalistic clown," says Fielding.
Being a creepy clown takes work. There's the fake here, and more importantly, the fake blood, but the makeup really does the trick. "My makeup is never the same."
Fielding is most comfortable in a costume. "When I'm all scary and in clown makeup, its just 'hey, look that's just me being normal," says Feilding. "Abnormal is normal around here."
Not everyone feels at ease around him when he's lurking in the dark. In fact, most of the time, he says people run in the other direction. It's an art he's perfected over the years.
"We're entertainers. If we can't make someone cry out in fear, I try to at least make them laugh."
