Stony Brook returns to NY, greeted with big welcome
Stony Brook University's baseball team returned home Monday as the first team in school history to make it to the College World Series.
The cinderella story Seawolves were greeted off the bus by their most loyal fans who just the night before, watch the team punch their ticket to Omaha
The Seawolves beat six-time national champion LSU in the NCAA Super Regionals to qualify.
Seawolves pitcher Frankie Vanderka led his team to Sunday night's 7-2 victory in Game three.
"We love the whole Cinderella story, you know. Everyone underestimating us and then showing what a Northeast team can do? We just played how we played all year. We didn't change a thing," Vanderka said
Stony Brook is the first team from New York to make it to the College World Series in Omaha since 1980.
The series -- which includes a field of eight teams -- starts on Friday.
