Southern football Coaches Clinic and crawfish boil set for March 21

Chicago Bears scout and former All-SWAC kicker Breck Ackley is scheduled to serve as the guest speaker during the Southern University coaches clinic and crawfish boil on March 21.

Ackley, who finished his career as Southern's all time leading scorer, is in his first season as the south central area scout after spending the 2012 season as a scouting assistant in Chicago.

Ackley's coaching career started as a graduate assistant at Southern under Stump Mitchell in 2010 and includes stops at Southeastern Louisiana in 2011 and a second stint at SU in 2012.

Hosted by head coach Dawson Odums and held in the A.W. Mumford Fieldhouse, the one-day clinic begins with a social and crawfish boil and continues through eight breakout sessions.

Coaches will receive instruction from some of South Louisiana's most prominent high school coaches including Arhbishop Rummel's Jay Roth, Catholic's Dale Weiner and Dutchtown's Jason Brown.

Coaches participating in the clinic are also urged to attend the Jaguars' 1 p.m. practice inside A.W. Mumford Stadium.
