BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Southern football fans are being asked to wear pink to support the Jags this Saturday, where first place will be on the line.
It’s being called the Think Pink Game as the university is doing its part to help raise awareness for breast cancer here in October.
Interim Head Coach Dawson Odums unexpectedly started his weekly Tuesday press conference explaining why breast cancer hits home to him.
Odums used the first 5 minutes talking about Lula Johnson, a woman who he called an aunt and a mother to him, who is fighting breast cancer and is a breast cancer survivor. It was a moment to put things into perspective to say the least.
Coach Odums and the Jags hope to take first in the SWAC's Western Division on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. in A.W. Mumford Stadium, and fans are being advised to arrive early as another big crowd is expect to be on hand.
For the first time since 2009, the Jags are on the verge of having a winning record this late in the year.
