You can feel the energy in the air for the 38th annual Bayou Classic. The importance of the rivalry game between Southern and Grambling isn't lost on Southern's head man, "This is the time. We've lost the past three and I lost my first one against Grambling. So we're coming here with a lot of energy. The game is going to be played and we're going to have an awesome time," says Stump Mitchell.

Even with stakes almost as high as they can get, "There's a lot to play for for Southern. It's an opportunity to end up tied in a four-way race for first place. That's huge for us," says Mitchell.

Focusing on the Bayou Classic gives the Southern University community a chance to forget about the schools' financial woes and remember how great it feels to be a Jaguar,"Our fans are going to enjoy everything that's going to encompass this game, starting with the parade on Thursday. Their minds will not be on anything other than the Classic and it'll be an awesome experience," states Mitchell.

Though he has respect for Doug Williams, the Super Bowl M.V.P. that he's coaching against," I admired him from afar. We're friends, but come Saturday we're still gonna be friends, but we're going to have different attitudes," says Mitchell.

Mitchell says on Saturday it's all about business and getting the job done,"Let's all come out, have a great time. It's going to be very competitive but...you know."
