UPDATED: Tuesday, June 7, 2011 - 10:09pm

Southeastern Louisiana University shortstop Justin Boudreaux was selected Tuesday in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Boudreaux, who completed his junior season at Southeastern, was the 434th overall pick in the draft. The selection of Boudreaux, a second-team All-Southland Conference selection, marks the eight consecutive year a Lion player was picked in the Major League Draft. Boudreaux, the first Lion shortstop selected in the draft since Kevin Morgan in 1991 (Detroit), is the second player to be chosen by the Dodgers joining Brock McMurray who was an 11th-round selection in 1988.

Boudreaux hit .333 with eight home runs and 48 RBI in 2011 for the Lions and finished seventh in the Southland Conference in runs scored (54), ninth in slugging percentage (.527) and 10th in home runs and RBI.

In his three-year career at Southeastern, Boudreaux has posted a .307 batting average with 25 home runs, 148 RBI and 37 stolen bases. He currently ranks third in school history in runs scored (162), sixth with 198 hits and 10th in home runs.

The draft concludes on Wednesday with Rounds 31-50 beginning at 11 a.m. CDT.
