Vilma wants to meet NFL commissioner to discuss bounty allegations

Saints

POSTED: Tuesday, September 11, 2012 - 4:45pm

UPDATED: Tuesday, September 11, 2012 - 5:24pm

New Orleans Saints' Linebacker Jonathan Vilma plans to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss the bounty allegations that nearly got him banned for the season.

Vilma's lawyer, Peter Ginsberg, has said that the reinstated linebacker will inform the league of his intentions before the commissioner’s deadline on Tuesday, in hopes of having a meeting sometime next week.

Vilma had previously walked out of an appeals meeting with Goodell back in June, which Ginsberg described as a "charade".

The hopes of this meeting will be to "see the evidence and confront the witnesses" says ginsberg. He also told ESPN that Vilma hopes to discuss matters that will lead to a quick and fair resolution.

Regardless of Vilma's claim to be willing to meet with Goodell, it's not a certainty that he would actually show up.

In addition to walking out of the appeals hearing, Vilma had requested to re-open the appeals process with Goodell, but canceled before appearing.
