Vilma files appeal for bounty punishment
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma has appealed his season-long suspension for the “bounty gate” scandal. The veteran filed papers Monday with the NFL in order to get the suspension overturned.
Vilma believes NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell should not hear his appeal.
Meanwhile, the NFL Players Association has filed a grievance that agrees with Vilma.
The association argues that the Bounty program events happened before the new collective bargaining agreement was signed.
Vilma wants the appeal proceedings to be delayed until the association grievance has been resolved.
