NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The New Orleans Saints bounty system may have effects that could harm more than just the team.

Four former NFL players sued the league and are claiming that they didn't properly protect its players; they are using the scandal to strengthen their claim.

This comes after the former players pointed to the bounty system as another instance of the league relying on violence.

Legal experts expect more suits to be filed against the NFL using the scandal as proof that there were coordinated efforts to make the sport even more violent.

The former players also contend that the NFL didn't fully educate players about the danger of concussions.

The NFL says that any claims that the league intentionally misled players are not true.

More than 1,000 players have filed suit against the league according to attorneys involved.
