NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The football stadium at Penn State won't be named for late head coach Joe Paterno, at least not for now.
Paterno's family has decided they don't want Beaver Stadium renamed for the late coach.
That's partly because it would have meant signing a release, which would free the university from any further legal responsibility related to the coaches' firing after the firestorm set off by the Sandusky sex abuse scandal.
The Paterno family said the late coach never wanted the football field where he coached for 46 years named after him. They said they'd rather rename a library instead.
