Kenseth wins Daytona 500

UPDATED: Tuesday, February 28, 2012 - 5:47pm

The Daytona 500 made a big bang for its prime time debut.

A crash in lap two of the 200 lap race sent 5 cars back to the garage - two of them did not get back to the track.

In lap 13, Ryan Newman lost a tire and that sent him back to the pits.

In the most explosive highlight of the night, Juan Pablo Montoya slammed into a jet dryer while trying to catch up with the back of the pack.

As Montoya was able to escape the fiery crash unharmed, fire extinguishers were brought out to the track to put out the blaze. Crews had to clear off the track and the race was delayed for another two hours.

In the end, though, it was Matt Kenseth who took the checkered flag followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle in third.
