Ohio State will not be bowl eligible for Urban Meyer's first year as the Buckeyes head coach.

Ohio State was engulfed in controversy after players were found to have accepted cash and tattoos in exchange for jerseys, rings and other Buckeyes memorabilia.

The NCAA said the sanctions include a one-year bowl ban, a reduced number of scholarships, and put the Buckeyes on probation through December 19, 2014.

New head coach Urban Meyer has established a solid recruiting class, even with the controversy; however, a bowl ban could affect any verbal commitments they've received.
