The Sun Belt Conference is looking to expand its ranks as early as Thursday. Georgia State is expected to accept the leagues invitation to become the 11th football member of the Sun Belt Conference, joining 2012 newly inducted football member, South Alabama.

Georgia State, only in its second year of collegiate football, is regarded as one of the most up and coming new football programs in the country, led by legendary coach Bill Curry.

As a head coach, Curry earned ACC Coach of the Year honors in 1985 at Georgia Tech, and two SEC coach of the year awards at Alabama in 1987 and 1989, including an SEC title in 1989.

Bill Curry would add to the growing list of high caliber coaches in the Sun Belt Conference with recent coaching hires such as Guz Malhzan, Carl Pelini, Mark Hudspeth, and Mario Cristobal, all highly sought after coaches in the current Football Bowl Subdivison landscape.

The Sun Belt Conference is quickly changing its face in the FBS. This past year alone the Sun Belt has built two new stadiums, (North Texas University, and Florida Atlantic University), and has sent three teams to bowl games, (Florida International University, The University of Louisiana, and Arkansas State University).

Georgia State would join the Sun Belt Conference beginning the 2013 football season.
