Former LSU Men's Basketball Coach Trent Johnson is moving to TCU

"I think it's kind of a good thing," said Michael Kron, a Freshman at LSU.

Former LSU Men's Basketball Coach Trent Johnson is trading gold and purple for black and purple in becoming TCU's new Men's Basketball Coach.

But in his four years as a coach at LSU, his record was only 67 and 64.

"He did good for a little bit, but I just think it's time for a new coach in here," Kron said.

It was reported that TCU is going to pay Johnson 1.4 million every year in a six year contract. Tiger fans say they wish Johnson luck, and think he'll do well in a smaller school, because he ran that same kind of program when he coached at Stanford.

"I mean, it isn't all about the money but i think it's a good fit for him, as coaches we always say, it's not about the x's and o's it's about the Jimmys and Joes," said Donald Johnson, an LSU fan and Plaquemine High Basketball Coach.

They say the coach's big school experience could bring up TCU Basketball.

"Who knows? I mean, look at a smaller school like Butler, who's nationally known now, it might be the best fit for him," said Donald.

This afternoon Johnson took to the podium at TCU, meeting with media for the first time as that school's head coach.

"For me, I can't express to you how excited I am about the challenge in front of us," said Coach Trent Johnson.

Johnson says he recognized the will to win in LSU, and now he sees that same potential in TCU.

"One of the things I never lost sight of is quality universities, quality people, and more importantly, quality players," he said.
