Federal investigators in Indianapolis, say that after a four month investigation they took phony NFL merchandise from various stores, flea markets, street vendors and Internet counterfeiters.

Officials are warning the public to only purchase NFL fan gear from a licensed dealer or store.

"If you're going to spend this kind of money for a jersey, for the love of God spend it on the real thing,” John Morton, US Immigration and Customs, pleaded. “And make sure that you get something that lasts. If you were to look at some of the things that we seized, the stitching is poor, the logos aren't quite right. You know they're cheap, and they're ultimately going to fall apart on you."

In the days leading up to last year's Super Bowl, federal agents confiscated $3.5 million in fake NFL gear, and they likely will seize even more this year.
