Ariel Mitchell is feeling pretty confident about winning games in her professional career. "Ahh yeah, absolutely," she says. "The Harlem Globetrotters have won 24 thousand games, so you can bet your money on us!"

Mighty Mitchell as she'll be called is a graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans and is the newest member of the Harlem Globetrotters. The 5'6" female guard is one of just 11 women to ever join the team! As part of the squad Mitchell will travel the world, sign autographs, take pictures and represent her home.

"This is like an honor to be here," Mitchell says. "It's in such great tradition, I'm really proud to continue the tradition and just to fill those roles and those shoes of more responsibility and really like a leadership role, I'm honored for that."

However, Mitchell isn't the first Dillard alumni to become a Harlem Globetrotter. She follows the late, great Billy Ray Hobley, whose family had a special message and gift for the young athlete.

Mattie Hobley presented his red and white striped shorts at the press conference held for Mitchell: "On behalf of our family we'd like to present to you a piece of Billy Ray's original Harlem Globetrotter uniform."

Hey, if the shorts...or should I say shoe fits...wear it!

The Globetrotters seem to be a perfect fit for the player who hopes to inspire young girls to follow in her footsteps. Mitchell says, "Just to show them that anything is possible and they can be out here as long as they have commitment with a dream, nothing can stop them."

Not even those pesky Washington Generals...
