LSU's Turner named SEC player of the Week
BATON ROUGE, LA (LSUSPORTS.NET) — The Southeastern Conference Monday selected sophomore guard Ralston Turner as its Player of the Week.
Turner helped LSU to wins at home against previously undefeated 10th-ranked Marquette 67-59 (Dec. 19) and then ran its winning streak to six games with a road win at North Texas 67-58 (Dec. 22).
For the week, Turner averaged 15 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal in the two game. Turner had the second highest scoring game of his career in the win over Marquette, hitting 4-of-5 shots from the arc, in scoring 22 points against the Golden Eagles. Turner also played a solid game at North Texas (8 points, 5 rebounds, 38 minutes) as LSU held its sixth straight opponents under 60 points as LSU ran its record to 9-3 with two non-conference games remaining.
LSU hosts Grambling State Thursday night at 6 p.m. and then plays Virginia in the Maravich Center at 6 p.m. on Jan. 2.
