BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — LSU unveiled its newest addition to Alex Box stadium Thursday night when the doors to the Wally Pontiff Jr. Hall of Fame were opened. The Hall of Fame displays the illustrious history of LSU Basebal. The program has won six national championships since 1991.
It is named after the late Wally Pontiff Jr. who helped the Tigers win a title in 2000. Pontiff was a two-time all-SEC selection at LSU who died due to heart complications on July 24, 2002 at the age of 21. He was a three-year starter for the Tigers from 2000 through 2002 at third base and DH.
