For the second straight week the LSU tiger football team will be a huge favorite heading into Saturday’s non-conference game. The Tiger players and LSU head coach Les Miles say they'll try to avoid being complacent and continue improving before the SEC part of their schedule.

“It's scary how good we could be. That's the great thing about this,” junior center Elliot Porter said Monday. The Tiger offensive lineman has been part of the Tiger offense that has racked up 11 touchdowns in the first two games of the season. Mettenberger had 12 touchdown passess in the entire 2012 season.

“We have to just continue to raise the bar. Complacency is not in our vocabulary. We have a lot of big things planned and we want to accomplish them,” junior Jarvis Landry added.

Much of the offensive success is because of Zach Mettenberger. The senior has thrown five touchdowns and 533 passing yards in games against TCU and UAB. No other quarterback in LSU history has posted those numbers through the first two games of the season.

“And for him to be very, very good, that's going to have to continue. It cannot be a sometimes thing. It's got to be an all the time thing. I think that that's I think he recognizes that. I think he looks forward to it. I think he's realizing what the position can be, and he wants in,” Les Miles said at his weekly press conference on Monday.

Odell Beckham Jr. earned SEC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his performance against UAB. He returned three punts for 59 yards, one kickoff for 21 yards and returned a missed field goal for 100 yards and rare field goal return touchdown.

The Tigers are favored by 37 points over Kent State. The Tigers and Golden Flashes are scheduled to kickoff at 6 p.m. Saturday in Tiger Stadium.
