The NCAA Baseball Selection Committee gave LSU the No. 4 national seed Monday.

"This is the time when the winners step forward and shine," Coach Mainieri said. "That's what we plan to do."

As the No. 1 in the Baton Rouge Regional, the Tigers are paired with No. 2 seed UL-Lafayette, No. 3 seed Sam Houston State and No. 4 seed Jackson State.

The Baton Rouge Regional is paired with the Blacksburg Regional with one of the eight teams earning a berth to the College World Series in Omaha.

Virginia Tech is the No. 1 seed in the Blacksburg Regional, followed by No. 2 seed Oklahoma, No. 3 seed Coastal Carolina and No. 4 seed Connecticut.

LSU’s first postseason game will be versus Jackson State at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31.
