Outback Bowl trip to offer more than football
BATON ROUGE, LA — The LSU-Iowa Outback Bowl matchup may not have Tiger fans running out the room to book reservations.
“I think you have to look past the opponent. Iowa, as they say, is like watching corn grow,” LSU fan Jim Dumigan said.
Certainly, there are more appealing bowl games on the slate. But, Dumigan knows there are worst places to be than Tampa, Florida in the winter.
“It's a sunny destination, beach clothing, and the beaches. It's something different for them and I think that will capture the imagination of the LSU fans.”
Dumigan hopes. He makes a living putting together travel packages for fans to go see LSU play.
Originally, he thought this was a destination he would avoid setting up travel arrangements for. “There was some reluctance,” he said.
He feared that not enough Purple and Gold in the stands would land him in the red in the wallet. But he also knows south Florida and what it has to offer away from the game itself.
“It's unique there are a lot of site attractions down there and a lot of trips that you can take. The game will part of the experience but I think there is a lot more to do down there.”
