The LSU Tigers now know their first-round matchup in the 2013 Old Spice Classic as ESPN Tuesday announced the bracket for the tournament which will be contested Nov. 28, 29 and Dec. 1 at the HP Field House at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla.

The Tigers, 19-12 a year ago in Johnny Jones’ first-year as head coach at LSU, will meet NIT participant Saint Joseph’s in the final of four first-round games at 7:30 p.m. (CST) on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 28. Saint Joseph’s was 18-14 a year ago.

LSU returns top players Johnny O’Bryant III, Anthony Hickey, Andre Stringer and Shavon Coleman and brings in a top-5 recruiting class that includes Baton Rouge freshman Jarell Martin (Mr. Basketball in Louisiana), Georgia player of the year Tim Quarterman and seven-foot Australian Darcy Malone among others.

The other six teams in the tournament are Butler, Memphis, Purdue, Oklahoma State, Siena and Washington State.

ESPN2 will carry six of the tournament games, including all four first-round games. ESPNU will air four games and ESPN and ESPN3 will each have one game. The Championship game will air Sunday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. CST on ESPN2.

The 2013 Old Spice Classic, a bracket-format tournament, will feature 12 games over the three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format. The two teams that remain undefeated throughout will face off in a championship match Sunday, Dec. 1.

The other first-round matches (Central time) have Purdue and Oklahoma State at 11 a.m.; Butler and Washington State at 1 p.m. and Siena and Memphis at 5:30 p.m.

LSU will face either Siena or Memphis in the second round of the tournament on Nov. 29 at either 4:30 or 7 p.m. The teams have Saturday, Nov. 30, off before playing a final round of games on Sunday, Dec. 1.

LSU played in the Charleston Classic two seasons ago, winning two of three games to finish fifth in the tournament.

The family-friendly tournament is a weekend-long affair at the Walt Disney World Resort where participating teams practice, play and enjoy the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks. Travel packages are available for fans and include resort accommodations at the team hotel, game tickets, theme park tickets and much more. Sponsors include Old Spice, Samsonite and ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) will serve as the event’s sponsoring conference for the seventh straight year.

Gonzaga won the 2012 Old Spice Classic, its second tournament victory after claiming the 2008 title. Previous winners were Dayton in 2011, Notre Dame in 2010, Florida State in 2009, North Carolina State in 2007 and Arkansas in 2006.

The Old Spice Classic is owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN.
