LSU going to Outback Bowl
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The LSU Tigers will spend New Year's Day taking on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl.
Tigers ended their season 9-3 and the Hawkeyes were 8-4. Coach Les Miles said Iowa is a "meticulous" and "capable" team, but he said his Tigers are ready to play.
The Tigers will not have Zach Mettenberger. Freshmen quarterback Anthony Jennings is next in line to lead the offense. Miles said Jennings knows the plays, will be able to pull off the job.
"I think our guys will enjoy supporting Mettenberger by supporting the new quarterback. Lets surround the new q' making sure you're in the right spot for the routes. That his preparation will go in a very comfortable directed way," Miles said.
Miles said going to Tampa will be a change of pace from their usual bowl game locations.
"I think a different experience from a bowl that we've already been too several times I think it's a quality lure. I think our friends and family will travel extremely well," Miles said.
The Outback Bowl is set for January 1 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Kick off is for 2 pm.
