LSU sophomore second baseman JaCoby Jones was named the SEC Player of the Week Monday by the league office.

Jones, a product of Richton, Miss., led LSU to three wins in four games last week, batting .500 (7-for-14) with one double, one homer, seven RBI, three runs and one stolen base. He paced to the Tigers to an SEC series victory at Ole Miss, hitting .417 (5-for-12) in three games with one double, one homer, seven RBI, two runs and one stolen base.

Jones was 3-for-5 with a double, a three-run homer and a career-best five RBI in Sunday’s 12-3 win over the Rebels that clinched LSU’s first series victory in Oxford since 2004. His two-out, two-RBI double in the second inning Sunday gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead, and his three-run dinger in the sixth, also with two outs, punctuated a five-run LSU outburst.

A total of six LSU players have received either SEC Player or Pitcher of the Week designations this season including Jones, sophomore right-hander Ryan Eades, junior left-hander Brent Bonvillain, sophomore right-hander Kevin Gausman, junior leftfielder Raph Rhymes and junior rightfielder Mason Katz.
