How much would you pay to have Les Miles in your family’s holiday card?

A family photo is always a fun way to personalize your holiday cards. Imagine how your friends would react if a local celebrity was standing in the picture, too.

“The idea was inspired by a hilarious video that appears on YouTube where comedian Louis C.K. auctions off a similar family photo card with Al Pacino,” Manuel F. Valencia said.

In south Louisiana, the closest equivalent to that star power is Les Miles.

“Football crazed fans will hopefully enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity to have Les Miles appear with them on their holiday card,” Valencia said.

The auction will take place on Saturday, May 18 at the 5th annual Storybook Ball, which is being held at the Baton Rouge River Center from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge.

“Family Road and the members of their board are always looking for new, fun and exciting ways to engage the community in the organization and support of their programs,” Valencia explained. “This is just one example of how they look to do that.”

The Storybook Ball is a whimsical way for kids learn and interact with characters from their favorite books. A dozen larger-than-life storybooks will be represented, including classic titles such as “The Jungle Book,” “Princess and the Frog,” “Harry Potter,” and “Where The Wild Things Are.”

“It’s one of the most fun all-family events held in the city,” Valencia noted.

Although they hope the auction will bring in some new-comers this year, they realize that not everyone will enjoy the chance to bid in person. For that reason they plan to hold an additional online auction in the days after the event.

“Bidders who do not attend the ball can participate in the online auction that will be announced at a later date,” Valencia said.

But for those who attend the Storybook Ball, there will be a chance for other great prizes, too.

“We will have a raffle at the ball,” Valencia said. “Some of the prizes include a one minute shopping spree at Victoria’s Toy Station and a cup cake party at Cupcake Couture.”

There are plenty of other great prizes, too, as well as additional details about the event. Click here for more information.
