UPDATED: Sunday, May 15, 2011 - 11:22pm

The No. 21 LSU softball team will make its 13th NCAA Regional appearance against Syracuse as part of a four-team regional hosted by No. 16 national seed Texas A&M held from Friday to Sunday at the Aggie Softball Complex.

The Tigers (38-16, 19-9 SEC) have made a pair of Women's College World Series trips in 2001 and 2004 along with NCAA Super Regionals runs during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Ticket details and game times from Texas A&M will be released on Monday for all fans wishing to purchase tickets.

“We're excited about the opportunity get continue to our season, not every team in the county is fortunate enough to play in the postseason,” head coach Yvette Girouard said. “We’re very familiar with Texas A&M and Syracuse after playing both of them last season.”

LSU received an at-large bid after finishing fourth in the SEC standings and joined a conference-high seven teams selected from the SEC. The Big 12 placed a conference-best eight teams, while the Pac-10 conference also notched seven selections into the Field of 64.

The top sixteen teams were each seeded and placed at one of the regional sites. Four teams will participate at each of sixteen regional sites in a double-elimination tournament. The sixteen teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best of three super regional at eight sites the following weekend. The Women's College World Series, which begins June 2, will include the eight super regional winners.

All of LSU's postseason games will have live audio and live stats in the Geaux Zone on LSUsports.net. The contests also will be carried on ESPN 104.5 FM in Baton Rouge with Patrick Wright and Kent Lowe calling the action.
