CHOUDRANT, La. (LSU) While the LSU men's golf team is not set to compete again until next week with a trip to Columbus, Ohio, for the Jack Nicklaus Invitational, four Tigers played as individuals at the Squire Creek Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.

Senior Ken Looper and freshman Landon Lyons each earned top-five finishes in the event to lead a group of LSU individuals that also included freshmen Franco Castro and Andrew Presley.

Looper was impressive throughout the tournament as he posted a 54-hole score of 1-under par 215 to take second place on the leaderboard. After opening with an even-par 72 in the first round and a 2-under 70 in the second round Monday, Looper carded a 1-over 73 in Tuesday's final round to finish the event at seven shots behind individual champion Horacio Leon of Southeastern Louisiana (208).

Lyons followed Looper with a fourth-place finish in his collegiate debut as he followed a 3-over par 75 in the first round with a 1-under 71 in the second round and an even-par 72 in the final round as the Baton Rouge native carded a 54-hole score of 2-over par 218 for the two-day tournament.

Presley picked up a top-20 finish by tying for 16th place with a total of 9-over 225, including a 3-under 69 in the second round, while Castro wrapped up the event in a tie for 54th place at 25-over 241.

The Tigers return to action next week as they travel to Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, to tee off in the Jack Nicklaus Invitational hosted by Ohio State on Monday and Tuesday. They will then return home to Baton Rouge on Oct. 18-19 to play host to the second-annual David Toms Intercollegiate held at the Country Club of Louisiana, for which LSU is the defending team champion.
