LSU gears up for Thursday game

Since the season has started, everything has been back to normal for the LSU Tigers.

A week to prepare results in a win over Oregon; then, another week of preparation, results in another win.

But Week 3 is unique.

"We are trying to do Tuesday’s work on Sunday, Wednesday’s work for Monday, Thursday’s work for Tuesday, Friday for Wednesday, and Thursday for Saturday," stated head coach Les Miles.

So for Coach Miles in his crew it's about shifting around the schedule.

“We practiced on Sunday, and we don’t normally do that,” said sophomore defensive lineman Michael Brockers. “So we have the same amount of days as a regular week. “

The Tigers’ task this week is getting ready in a hurry as they will play in a rare Thursday night contest.

Junior wide receiver Rueben Randle stated, “Some of the Saturday games take a while to get here, so a Thursday game is something new and something to look forward to.”

But the challenge is not just a change of pace and practices, it's also playing a meaningful game in the dominant Southeastern Conference.

“It's the SEC - every week is a big game,” said senior tight end DeAngelo Peterson. “You have to put losses and wins behind you and move forward.”

Perhaps it's not the difference in days, but rather the change in competition that will make the biggest mark.

“(The) SEC is proven to be the best because we win every time we go outside the conference,” said sophomore running back Michael Ford. “SEC is a more grinding and power game, so that will be the main difference.”

“The linemen come of the ball trying to attack you, and that’s what we have to get ready for this week,” agreed Brockers.
