“It’s a Cinderella story, we knew it would happen like this before the season started,” Jordan Jefferson told NBC33 News in the days leading up to the BCS Championship game.

Perhaps senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson did know the season would come down to this - one game for the BCS title. What he may not have known is the path he'd take to get there.

“It did go by fast,” Jefferson said. “I can remember day one, those four years flew by. It’s been a great four years to me.”

There have been some eventful years with Jefferson behind center but none more so than 2011

After a four touchdown performance to end the 2010 season, it was no secret that Jefferson would once again get the chance to lead LSU at the quarterback spot.

But an early August morning altercation changed that.

Exactly eight days before the season opener, Jefferson was suspended indefinitely for his alleged involvement in a fight just off LSU's campus.

“I knew I would be back,” Jefferson explained. “I thought I would be back quicker; those were 4 long weeks.”

Four games, the Destrehan native sat and watched what was once his team, jump out to a 4-0 start.

“I didn’t know at the time, but once I ran the game plan and executed led the team to victory, I felt eventually I would be back in the spot,” he said.

In his absence, the spot was filled by 5th year senior Jarret Lee, who admirably directed the tigers as Jefferson faced possible felony charges.

Then there was the return.

The charges were reduced, and Jefferson jumped back in the mix, not as the starter but still getting a chance to be LSU's quarterback one again - Eventually taking over in against Alabama after Lee struggled. Since then Jefferson hasn't looked back.

“I felt like the sit was good for me, meaning getting my life back to normal and playing in the NC at the end of the year.”

A second chance was enough. He started once again, and the Tigers continued to win with number nine under center.

While maybe not the best quarterback in the nation, Jefferson is just one of two who will get a chance to call his team the best.

“At the end of the day, I’m the one in the NC – it’s an exciting feeling.”

And maybe even more exciting for him a chance to win it all in his hometown.

“Everything doesn’t matter if we lose,” Jefferson concluded. “13-0 won’t matter if we lose this one.”
