Saints hire Spagnuolo as Defensive Coordinator

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Former St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo has agreed to become defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.
Spagnuolo will replace Gregg Williams, who left New Orleans to become the defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams.
Spagnuolo and the Saints don’t have a contract yet according to one source. Spagnuolo was fired Jan. 2, one day after the Rams wrapped up a 2-14 season tied for the NFL’s worst record.
Spagnuolo spent the 20047-2008 season as the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, culminating in the team’s stellar performance in their Super Bowl 42 victory over the Patriots.
