BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Southern football team starts spring practice Wednesday but head coach Stump Mitchell may not be there to watch. A report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says Mitchell met with the St. Louis Rams Monday to interview for the running backs coach position.
It’s unknown at the time if the Rams offered Mitchell the job.
Southern University tells NBC33 that Stump Mitchell and interim Sandy Pugh are unavailable for interviews Tuesday.
Southern is 6-16 in two years under the reign of Mitchell.
Mitchell enters his third and final year of his contract with the Jaguars where he will make $200,000.
