Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The LSU Lady Tiger Basketball Team fell short in their attempt to make the Sweet 16 last night.
Nikki Caldwell's gang gave up a season high 90 points to Penn State in the NCAA second round; the amount was just too much to overcome.
LSU finishes the season with a record of 23-11. The Tigers will lose five seniors of this year’s squad, but Caldwell says the program is heading in the right direction.
Caldwell stated, "My staff did a great job of signing a great class for next year, and with what we have coming back, I feel like the team will be solid. It’s still early - those freshmen have to come in and get acclimated to the system here - but the future for our basketball program is very bright."
The Tigers are now eliminated from the NCAA tournament with the loss. Penn State moves on to take on Connecticut Sunday night.
