Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Southern football fans who are wondering if their head coach will be back for the 2012 season may have to wait just a couple more days.

Reports started circulating last week that the St. Louis Rams had an offer on the table for Mitchell to be an assistant coach under new head man Jeff Fisher.

The Jaguar Sports Information department tells NBC33 that “as of today, Stump is still the coach at Southern and is expected to open spring practice later this week."

Interim Athletic Director Sandy Pugh could not be reached.
