SHREVEPORT, La (NBC33) — The Southern Board of Supervisors voted unanimously, 15-0, to approve the hiring of Dr. William Broussard as the next athletic director at Southern University.

It's been reported that Broussard signed a $115,000, two-year contract with an option for a third year.

Broussard will start his new job on Monday. He was formerly the Athletic Director at Centenary College in Shreveport.

Southern has been without an athletic director for nearly a year. Greg LaFleur was fired from the University in April of 2011 when he was arrested in Houston for allegedly soliciting a prostitute. He has since been acquitted of those charges.
