Brees named 'Most Powerful Athlete'
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Saints quarterback Drew Brees is the 'Most Powerful Athlete' in the world according to a "Power 100" list compiled for Bloomberg Businessweek magazine by a team from CSE Analytics. The company evaluated athletes from different sports, basing half of its assessment on performance on the field and the other have on non-sports related factors.
Why he’s on the list: Drew Brees crushed 27 years of NFL history with a new, monster passing record in 2011 (5,476 passing yards), just two seasons after he was named AP Male Athlete of the Year and won Super Bowl XLIV. Apart from record-breaking on-field performance—he’s the only quarterback to ever log two seasons with more than 5,000 yards—Brees is also a family man, photogenic, loved by marketers, and far more recognizable than second-place Aaron Rodgers.
