Brees breaks record, Saints clinch NFC South
It will be a touchdown pass that Saints quarterback Drew Brees will never forget. A simple nine yard strike to Darren Sproles with just minutes remaining in Monday night's game against the Falcons was enough to break the single season passing record. A capacity crowd in the Mercedes Benz Superdome cheered as Brees walked off the field following the touchdown strike. Brees currently has 5,087 yards on the year, breaking the previous record held by Dan Marino of 5,084 yards. New Orleans defeated Atlanta 45-16 to win the NFC South division.
The Saints host the Carolina Panthers Sunday.
