BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — For the forth straight year, Baton Rouge will experience the excitement of the PGA tour.
The fourth annual Zurich classic Baton Rouge Pro-Am Golf Tournament will be held at the University Club starting April 25, 2012.
The tournament is part of the PGA's Zurich classic of New Orleans that will bring an estimated $30-million economic impact to the state this year.
This year’s field includes former LSU golfer John Peterson who took home the NCAA individual championship last year and many of the other top ranked players in the nation.
Over a 10 year period the Zurich Classic will generate over $13-million for local charities through the Fore!-kids Foundation.
"There are about 40 times a year that the best players in the world get together and play,” Steve Worthy, Fore!Kids Foundation, said. “And one is here in Louisiana. We want to take advantage of the chance for people to see these guys play."
